Sport Premium
All young people should have the opportunity to live healthy and active lives. Following the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the government provides sport premium funding to improve the provision of PE and sport in primary schools.
The funding is designed to impact:
- achievement in PE lessons
- an increased involvement in competitive school sport
- personal health and well-being
- improved attitudes and behaviour towards learning
At Whitchurch we are committed to ensuring our pupils enjoy sports and games activities and understand the importance of being active and having a healthy lifestyle. Take a look at our PE and Sport Premium report to see how we spend and evaluate funding.
Learning to Swim at Whitchurch
As part of our PE curriculum, we are committed to teaching our children to swim. This includes swimming competently, confidently and proficiently at a distance of at least 25 metres using a range of different strokes (for example front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke). Additionally children are taught the life skill of water safety and self-rescue.
